What Ratatouille Teaches Us About Trust

January 31, 2014

This blog post is one in a series by the Magical Blogorail about famous Disney couples. During the series you will have the opportunity to win a D23 2-piece luggage set from American Tourister. Read through this post to learn how you can enter to win.

Ratatouille

Ratatouille is one of my favorite Disney/Pixar films. So when we were asked to choose a couple to write about for this series I knew I had to choose Remy and Linguini. Their unlikely bond is what makes the film so great and it teaches us a lot about what friendship really means.

Ratatouille teaches us a lot of lessons – like be yourself and follow your dreams – but I think one of the biggest is trust. Remy, being a rat, has been taught to fear humans and to never, ever trust them. But to be able to follow his dream and be a chef he has to enter the human world and trust Linguini. In turn, Linguini has to trust that the most unlikely chef ever will help him navigate a kitchen and not make him look like a fool.

One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when Remy first realizes he can “drive” Linguini; and, after some trial and error, they learn that together they can cook. Remy shares his innate cooking skills and Linguini allows him to shine. Of course there are a lot of ups and downs in the movie but in the end they both learn that trusting and believing in one another allowed both of them to live their dreams.

I wish I had a friend to teach me how to cook like that!

What a fun couple to share – it is a REALLY cute movie and definitely not the standard couple! The driving scene is adorable! Though, the idea of a rat on my head seriously gives me the heebeejeebies!

I really like this movie and it because of the trust factor.  Without each other they could not accomplish any of their goals.  Together – magic.

Confession: I think I’ve only ever seen this movie once.  We need to buy it so we can watch it again.  Thanks for sharing about Remy and Linguini and for the reminder that we need to have trust in our relationships.  That’s so important!
