Want a truly unique experience at Disney Springs? Look no further than Vivoli il Gelato. Founded in Florence, Italy 1932, Vivoli Gelateria offers fresh, authentic Italian gelato and baked goods that are made in-house and in small batches. The Disney Springs location is the first Vivoli store-front outside of Italy, and only the second location in the United States. There is also a kiosk location inside Macy’s in New York City.
Located near the Boathouse in The Landing, Vivoli Gelateria offers gelato, sorbetto, floats, milkshakes, and a selection of baked goods. With 24 flavors that change from time to time, you’ll definitely be able to find something that you’ll love. You can get your gelato in a cone, waffle bowl, or three cup sizes. Piccolo (small) at $5 and up to 2 flavors, media (medium) at $6 and up to three flavors, and Grande (large) at $7 and up to four flavors. If you can’t decide on a flavor they will let you try a few out. And if you aren’t sure which flavors to pair together, just ask! Portion sizes are on the smaller side but the quality is outstanding and worth the price.
I was able to speak to Silvana Vivoli, the granddaughter of Raphael Vivoli one of the company’s founders, during my visit. She reiterated that top quality and fresh ingredients are extremely important to them. There were peaches in the shop that they were waiting to use until they were perfectly ripe. You can’t get more fresh than that! Vivoli also uses the exact same recipes from the original shop in Florence, Italy. You can tell that the family’s tradition and passion for that they do is alive and well with Silvana.
As a part of my visit I was able to try sample. I am more of a sorbet fan so I tried out one of their newest flavors, cucumber lime sorbetto. I know it probably doesn’t sound like those flavors go together but trust me. They do! It was light and refreshing. Perfect for a hot summer day or if you’ve indulged at one of the restaurants at Disney Springs and are looking for a lighter dessert.
And since Andrew is the gelato/ice cream expert in our house, we went back later so he could give it a try. He chose vanilla, his favorite. He said it wasn’t anything like any other vanilla gelato he had ever tried. The flavor was outstanding and Vivoli is now a must do for us on our Disney vacations.
