Review of the American Tourister COLORA Collection

November 5, 2013

American Tourister Colora

I am so excited to share my review of the American Tourister COLORA Collection. We travel to Disney several times a year and I was still in search of the perfect suitcase. I’ve tried a couple of brands through the years and I have to say that American Tourister was won me over.

Magical Blogorail Diclosure

Let’s start with the specs. The COLORA 20″ spinner:

  • Colora is enhanced with the near effortless mobility of sleek, smooth rolling dual spinner wheels.
  • Fully lined interiors with zippered compartment and cross straps to minimize shifting of contents.
  • Ergonomically designed dual tube aluminum handle with comfort grip locks in place when not in use.
  • Large exterior panel pocket accommodates last minute items.
  • 10 Year Warranty.
  • Weight: 8.0 lbs.
  • Dimensions: 20.0″ x 14.5″ x 8.5″

The 20″ spinner is a great carry on option for our trips to Disneyland (just keep in mind it may not fit all airline standards.) The handle is the perfect length for my husband to roll it through the airport, both upright and tilted. It stays in place but it’s easy to use the button when you need to retract it.

And the spinners are awesome! You can even roll it upright which is a great feature for us. My husband is always carrying multiple bags and this helps us stack items. This will be such an advantage at baggage claim. Plus the suitcase is such a bright green that we will have no trouble finding it on the carousel.

It’s also the perfect size for our short trips to Walt Disney World. It looks small but I was amazed at the amount of clothing I was able to pack in. In the photo below I have two pairs of jeans, a sweater, sweat shirt, three t-shirts, and our Magic Bands. As you can see there is room for a lot more.

And thanks to the clear bag that snaps into place on top, I can pack all the toiletries I need and I have space for all the Disney toiletries I bring home! The outside pockets are also a good size and are great for your Disney souvenirs. Or if you are anything like me, they are a great spot to store all the things you find around the room that you missed when you first started packing.

From a wheelchair users perspective, it is really light so I didn’t have any trouble picking it up or storing it. There are two handles, one at the top and one on the side, that make picking it up a lot easier. The side handle really comes it handy once you have everything packed. It also fits easily into my lap and doesn’t get in the way of the tires on my wheelchair. And the spinner wheels make it really easy for me to push the Colora bag upright in front of me.

So are you ready to pack more fun? You can check out all of the Colora options at the Shop American Tourister website. The Colora collection comes in three sizes and three bright color options, Lime Green (which is my favorite), Orange, and Raspberry. American Tourister is also offering free shipping on orders over $99.

Great Review Melissa, and I couldn’t agree more the wheels are great for pushing it upright. That is a great bonus when we are traveling with a lot of luggage.

Love the spinners! As a mom of three, I never know which direction I need to head in a busy airport with three kids excited to get to Disney! 🙂 Great review!

I never thought about the spinner and how easy it is for you to push it along. It must be so much easier to have luggage that glides along with you! What a great review and great photos! Thanks!

I really appreciate your added thoughts on using this bag with a wheelchair! That is definitely good to know and I am glad you shared. I’m short, so the retractable handy with various lengths is a great feature for me. 🙂

Great review, Melissa! You are all right, the adjustable length of the handle works for many purposes!

I love your photos! You really captured how bright green the bag really is. I’m totally with you on size and handle length too. Makes it so easy for a shorty to not have a bag hanging out behind me, knocking people over!

As a short person I can relate a bit on the spinner wheels. The long handles always made it so hard for me to pull luggage. Felt like it was a mile behind we. I love how easy it is to have it right next to me where I can control it.
