Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is one of our favorite quick service restaurants. We usually stop by for lunch or dinner when we visit the Magic Kingdom but since we were staying at Bay Lake Tower we finally visited for breakfast.
One thing I love about Contempo Cafe is the ordering process. The touch screens allow you to modify your meals so you can leave certain things off or add them. Disney waffles always come with a side of bacon of sausage and since I don’t eat either I can quickly remove it and see the price. But our savings were quickly eliminated when I added a side of breakfast potatoes as an impulse buy.
I had the Mickey Waffle with Banana Caramel sauce. I can’t remember if I asked for the sauce on the side or if it just came that way but I was happy it did. I don’t drench my waffles in syrup and I’m a control freak. I ended up just dipping my waffles in the sauce. It was delicious with big chucks of banana. A good sugary start to the day. The waffle was your standard, awesome Disney waffle.
Drew had the Bounty Platter. It came with bacon, turkey sausage, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, French toast, and a biscuit. In other words, it was a lot of food. He finished most of it since we ate late and were pretty hungry but I think it could easily be split. Especially if you are wanting a lighter breakfast. Everything was good but the potatoes were the stand out. We’ve had the breakfast potatoes almost every where we have stayed but these were a little different and really good. So good we made sure we had more a little later in the week.
We’ll definitely be stopping by the Contempo Cafe for breakfast again. The Wave is still my favorite spot in the morning but if you are looking for something quick it’s a really good option before heading into the Magic Kingdom. Plus you can watch the monorail while you enjoy your coffee. That is pretty awesome.
