I am finally getting around to reviewing one of my new favorite spots for breakfast, Captain’s Grille. Located in Disney’s Yacht Club Resort , it’s one of those places that is a little underrated and therefore pretty easy to score a last minute reservation.
At Captain’s Grille, like The Wave at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you can either visit the buffet or order a la carte from the menu. We went with the second option since we were feeling lazy that morning. 🙂 We started with the press pot coffee and one of our friends ordered a Cappuccino. It was given two thumbs up.
I ordered the Lemon-Ricotta Hotcakes with Blueberry Compote, Lemon Curd, and Savory Hash Browns. I’m not really a syrup person so these hotcakes were perfect. You get a nice portion of the lemon curd and blueberry compote to go with every bite so you don’t need anything extra. The hotcakes were light and fluffy and love the tanginess of the accompaniments. The hash browns were also a little different since they were a combination of regular potatoes and sweet potatoes. There were a few to many onions for my taste but overall they were delicious.
Drew decided to have the Lobster Omelet with Butter-poached Lobster, Asparagus, Chive Cream, and Savory Hash Browns. There is a lobster claw on top but it’s also filled with lobster and asparagus. The eggs were cooked well, as was the lobster, and he loved the flavor of the chive cream. Overall it was a hit.
We dined with friends and actually remembered to photograph one of their meals. She had the Citrus-scented French Toast, Challah Bread with Lavender-infused Strawberry Compote and White Chocolate Ganache. She loved it and I think I might give it a try on our next visit.
We’ll definitely be stopping by Captain’s Grille for breakfast again soon. It’s a great spot to relax and the menu options are varied and unique. I love Mickey waffles but sometimes you just want something a little different.
