Introduction to the Magical Blogorail Orange

April 19, 2011

Pete's Silly Sideshow

Welcome to Rolling with the Magic! Thanks so much for hopping aboard the Magical Blogorail and stopping by. If you are just joining the blogorail this week we are introducing ourselves and our blogs. So to start here is a little info on me. I’m Melissa and I have been married to my best friend and partner in crime for a little over 5 years. We live in north Georgia with the craziest group of cats you will ever meet. I love movies, watching too much tv, cupcakes, comic books, ESPN, pop culture, converse, Joss Whedon, football, rainy days, reading, and most of all, Disney. And when I say Disney I mean it all. Theme parks, resorts, movies, tv, music, everything.

Star Wars Weekends 1997

When I first started thinking about writing a blog I got a lot of support and advice from my husband and sister. They told me to write about what I love and there really isn’t anything I love more than Disney. It has been there for me my entire life. I was born with a mild form of spina bifida called myelomeningocele. I had surgery pretty much right after birth but luckily I didn’t have any real problems for 10 years. That is when they found a tumor on my spinal cord and I had my first major back surgery. It is also when my real disability started. I walked with forearm crutches most of my life but about 8 years ago I started using a wheelchair full time. My body was just tired.

Practical Pig 1986

I tell you all of this because I have been able to experience Walt Disney World in all of these stages of my life. Every time was special. There were the visits where I ran around as a kid, where I had my crutches but could still do most everything, to now where I have limitations. One of my first blog posts was about how Disney is still magical, even if you are in a wheelchair. I believe that 100 percent. I think Disney is the best at making sure everyone has a wonderful time at their parks, there is no one better. And that is what my blog is about. It is why I love Disney  with a little insight into what its like to visit for me. I try to mix it up some so there is a little for everyone with the occasional restaurant review and the like but my passion is writing about visiting Disney on wheels.

My Disney Side

Thank you again for stopping by and I hope you like what you have seen so far. I will be heading back to Disney in September and I can’t wait to share that trip with you. You can also follow me on twitter & Facebook.

And I have to say how much I admire your passion. That’s why I love the Disney community so much. No matter who we are or where we come from, we all find that our love for Disney lifts us out of our troubles and difficulties and offers something special.
