Holidays Around the World – Germany Pavilion

Holidays Around the World at Epcot - Germany Pavilion

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Blue. Enjoy the ride as we discuss Holidays Around the World at Epcot. The Christmas season is my favorite time to visit the Disney Parks and visiting Epcot this time of year is extra special. I love all of the decorations, music, and special treats available. One of our favorite pavilions to visit is Germany. Here’s a look at the Christmas fun you can find there.

Holidays Around the World at Epcot - Germany Pavilion

Each country in the World Showcase has a Holiday Storyteller. In Germany Helga discusses the Christmas traditions in Germany, many of which are now used in holiday celebrations around the world. She tells the story of the first Christmas tree, the meaning of the Advent Calendar, and the tale of her first Nutcracker.

Holiday Treats

Prost! Holiday Booth

The Christkindlmarkt you will find a booth called Prost! They have several caramel treats from Werther’s and alcoholic and non-alcoholic holiday drinks. I am hoping that the Hot Salted Caramel returns because I didn’t get a chance to try it last year.

At Sommerfest you will find stollen fruit cake and glühwein (hot spiced wine). We tried the glühwein for the first time last year. It wasn’t my favorite but I think I might try it again to see if I’ve changed my mind. 🙂

Biergarten Restaurant

Holidays Around the World at Epcot - Germany Pavilion

Biergarten is open year round but it’s really fun to visit during the holidays. The restaurant is decorated for the holidays and the band plays Christmas carols. They also discuss some of the Christmas traditions in Germany and tell the story of one of the most beloved Christmas carols Silent Night. You can also choose to dine at Biergarten if you book a Candlelight Processional Dining Package.

You can also find artisans making beautiful glass ornaments in the Christkindlmarkt. Another shop, open year round, Die Weihnachts Ecke (The Christmas Corner) is also a fun stop to find decorations for your Christmas tree. You can pick up your own traditional German pickle ornament that brings good luck or other ornaments for your tree. You can spend a lot of time exploring the Germany pavilion during the holidays!

I love the Germany Pavilion at any time of year, especially during the holidays! Is the hot salted caramel a drink, like hot chocolate? Alcoholic or non?

LisaDiDomenicoCameron I love Helga the storyteller and Prost. The holiday foods make it seem like a mini Food & Wine Festival.

Mickey_MDOD That’s tough but I would probably have to say the shopping. 🙂

We love to visit Germany’s Christmas shop when we visit throughout the year. Sadly, we’ve never been during the holidays. What is your favorite thing to do here during the holidays?

Looks like such a fun and colorful place in Epcot! My husband & I traveled to Germany this summer and it was so festive, I’m sure it’s wonderful during the holidays 🙂 And I second the Christmas pickle, we’ve had one on our tree for years!

Great post, Melissa.  I’ve never been to Walt Disney World for Christmas, but one thing I know, I love Biergarten, especially the show and dance floor.  Is there one part of the German Pavilion that you like more than others?
