Family Traditions at Walt Disney World

November 19, 2013

Welcome to those of you joining me from Heidi’s Head and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the final stop on our Magical Blogorail.

Today we are sharing our family traditions at Walt Disney World. This topic was a little hard for me because I didn’t think we had anything we did every trip. But the more I thought about it the more I realized that we do have a few traditions.

Enjoying Main Street U.S.A

We always spend at least one morning enjoying Main Street. We arrive at rope drop and then take our time visiting the shops (no crowds!) and taking in the atmosphere. At the Magic Kingdom we stop by the Main Street Bakery for breakfast. At Disneyland we enjoyed breakfast at Carnation Cafe. I really enjoy the mornings when we visit during the Holidays. Plus we can get some great photos with hardly anyone in them.

My favorite way to take a break at the Magic Kingdom is to take the grand circle tour of the park on the Walt Disney World Railroad. We usually hop aboard at the Main Street station and then take the train around the entire park. I love listening to the audio and checking out the park from a different angle. We also made sure we took the train when we visited Disneyland. It was awesome!

Try Something New

There is so much to do at the parks that there are still things we haven’t experienced yet. Each trip we try to see or do at least one thing that we haven’t done before. On our upcoming trip we’re going to eat at a few new places, breakfast at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall and lunch at Biergarten Restaurant, and we’ll finally get to see the huge Christmas tree in the Magic Kingdom. We’ve visited during the Holidays before but always before they taped the Christmas parade so it wasn’t up yet.

So what are your family’s traditions? I’l love to hear about them in the comments!

You are going to LOVE Akershus. It is one of our family’s favorites, by far. There are so many different things you are going to love about this upcoming trip. Have a magical time!

Great traditions! We love to ride the train around the parks too – it’s a great way to re-acquaint ourselves with the Happiest Place on Earth!

Those are great traditions, we always have certain characters we always see like Mickey and go to Space Mountain as the first thing we ride.

We enjoy the morning on Main Street as well. The lack of crowds, hearing the music and relaxing with a bakery breakfast is tops on my list. Trying new dining locations is always so exciting. I’m looking forward to your thoughts on Akershus and Biergarten.

See? You’ve got some GREAT traditions! We, too, like to try something new on each trip. We’re actually trying several new restaurants on our upcoming visit (I think of our 10 dining reservations, 6 are at new locations!) Of course, you know I’m excited to see ALL the Christmas decorations and join in the Christmas festivities!
