Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge | Jambo House Accessible Room

September 23, 2015

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

When we visit Disney resorts for the first time I usually start talking about how I can’t wait to stay there some day.. That was especially true of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. We had visited a few times for dinner and tried out lunch at The Mara on day. We’ve stayed at Jambo House twice now and we loved each visit.

We have stayed in both a Standard View, which looks over the parking lot or rooftop, and a Savanna view room on the Kilimanjaro Club Level. The rooms were similar to one another and had the same features, other than the view.

The bathroom was a really good size. I was able to roll under the sink and it was easy to use. I could also use the mirror which was a nice bonus.

In our club level room their was a make up mirror and a few extra toiletry items and toothbrushes.

The shower was great as well. There was plenty of room to get my wheelchair close to the bench so the transfer was easy. I just needed Drew to lower the shower head for me.

The closet in the hallway had a shelf that was low enough for me to use. There was also so extra space for the door to the connecting room so I used the luggage rack and set up my suitcase there. It was out of the way but still easy for me to get to.

There was plenty of space to get between the bed and the refrigerator and dresser/tv stand. The refrigerator is placed so it was accessible to me and the coffee maker was located on top so I could use it too. Since I just live out of my suitcase on our trips I didn’t use any of the drawers in the dresser but they would have been easy to use if I needed to.

The bed was low enough for me to transfer onto it by myself. There was only enough room for me to get to one side of it but luckily it was the side I like to sleep on. There were also night stands on both sides.

In our Standard View room we didn’t venture out onto the balcony. It was small but it would have been easy to use since the floor and the balcony were flush without anything to roll over. The balcony in our Savanna View room was much larger and very easy for me to use.

We loved staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is a beautiful resort that has so many unique features. I can’t wait to stay there again, hopefully soon.

What a great overview of the room. We ate at Sanaa last week, and now the DH wants to stay at AK one day too… we’ll see. The kids have their hearts set on the Contemporary & AoA.
