For our first trip to Disneyland we wanted to go big so we spent a week at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. It was money well spent in our opinion. We had a great time, loved our room, and you can’t beat the resorts location.
We stayed in a wheelchair accessible room with a roll in shower and it was the perfect home away from home. (Just please excuse the photos. We like to take them when we first arrive but since we got to our room at 3:00 am we ended up waiting and taking them on the day we left.) The room was a nice size with a wide hallway when you entered. There was a closet to the right and the bathroom was on the left.
The closet was open which I like better than having to deal with doors. There are two low bars where you can hang items and shelf with two robes. There is also a safe, iron, and ironing board.
I used the space in front of the connecting door to place my suitcase on the luggage rack. It was a nice spot to get it out of the way since I don’t like to unpack everything.
I loved the bathroom. It was really spacious and the sink was easy to roll under. All of the shelving was easy to access as well. I could also use the main mirror but there was also another make up mirror that I could adjust.
The shower was also easy to use. There was a wide opening and the bench was located to the left. It was easy to transfer onto and I could place my wheelchair just outside the shower and then reach it when I needed it again.
The main part of the room had a couch, which was really comfortable, dresser/ entertainment center that also housed the refrigerator and television, desk, and bed.
It was a king sized bed that was a little higher than I like but I was still able to transfer on my own.
The balcony had a small plastic ramp that made it easy to get in and out. There was also a small table and two chairs. We didn’t spend much time out there. It would be easy to use if you had a theme park view.
Overall we loved our room and had a great time at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Since the hotel was so close to the parks we spent more time there than we usually do on our Walt Disney World Vacations. This made the extra money we spent worth it as well.
