Accessible Room at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Disney's Beach Club Resort

We had our first stay in a wheelchair accessible room at Disney’s Beach Club Resort towards the end of 2014. It wasn’t a long stay but it was long enough to fall in love with the smell of the lobby and the location of the resort.

Our room was wheelchair accessible with a roll in shower and very similar to our room at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. There were two queen beds with space enough between the two that I could have used either and there were. Again they were a little higher than some of the beds in other Disney accessible rooms but I was able to get in and out on my own.

The hallway had a chest and closet. The chest had two drawers that I was able to use to store a few things. The closet had a lower self and rack that were easy for me to reach but I typically don’t hang many things up. It also had a luggage rack, iron, ironing board, and an extra blanket. It’s also where the button for the automatic door is located. Just keep in mind that it takes a few seconds for the door to close. If it doesn’t work there is a switch at the top of the door that someone can use to turn it on for you or just call the front desk so someone can fix it for you.

The main area of the room also had storage that I could reach easily. It is also where the refrigerator is located. If you are like me and like to set up your suitcase instead of unpacking everything, there is enough space between the dresser and the wall to place a luggage rack and your suitcase.

There is also a desk and desk chair. The chair isn’t heavy so it was easy to move. They also placed the coffee maker here instead of the top of the chest so it was easier to use.

The bathroom was combined and had a pocket door that was easy to open and close. The vanity has double sinks and it was easy to roll under and use. I couldn’t really use the main mirror but there was an additional make up mirror that I used. There is a bar next to the toilet that you can put down if you need to use it.

The roll in shower was smaller than some of the others I’ve used (like the Yacht Club) but it was easy to roll in to transfer to the bench. The shower head is adjustable so you can place it where it is most comfortable for you to use.

We had a great time at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. The room was spacious and easy for me to navigate. My one complaint about the room is currently being taken care of. The rooms were in need of a refresh and that work is currently under way. You can see more photos of one of the updated rooms at Mouse Fan Cafe. I am loving the new color palette and the bathrooms!

Are the rooms ECV friendly? We stayed at CBR last visit and it was quite a hassle to charge our ECVS at night.

I am not 100% certain since I’ve never used one but there was a large, open space in the room that could probably accommodate an ECV. There were also outlets nearby.

Great review, Melissa! That shower looks tiny- maybe it’s just the photo angle, but it looks like there’s barely room to roll in. I’m so happy you included that link to see more shots of the Beach Club refurb- I’ve been so curious! I love the new look. BC is one of my very favorites, but I was never a huge fan of the beachy pastels-I like the new look a lot!

Thank you! The shower is small but you can roll up next to it to transfer. Maybe it will be a little different after the refurb. The bathrooms look beautiful!
