Spaceship Earth

One of my all time favorite attractions is Spaceship Earth. I loved it as a kid and I appreciate it even more as an adult. It is one of the attractions at Walt Disney World that has an alternate entrance for wheelchair users and it also has an ADA ride vehicle.

The standard queue is at the front of the attraction facing the entrance to the park. If you are using a wheelchair you need to go inside using one of the doors on either side of Spaceship Earth a little further up. Since Spaceship Earth does utilize an alternate entrance we recommend not using one of your FastPass+ reservations and instead visit later in the day when the wait times are lower.

Inside is the exit to the attraction as well as a few activities. Once inside head to the ramp that is the exit. There will be Cast Members there ready to help you. They’ll ask if you can walk a short distance and you’ll need to let them know if you would like to use the ADA ride vehicle. I recommend using it if you can’t walk or stand.

They will then direct you to a small waiting area to the left of the exit if the wait time is short. Wait times will vary depending on how busy the attraction is and where the ADA ride vehicle is. You may be issued a return time to come back later.

When the ADA ride vehicle is getting close a Cast Member will take you through the exit. The ADA car has a wider door making it easier to get in and out. There is also a handle located on the front of the car if you need to use it. The Cast Members will slow down the attraction but they can also stop it if you need some extra time but we’ve never had to.

The seat was almost the same level as my wheelchair, it was a little bit higher, but it was a pretty easy transition. There is also enough space if you need someone to help you get in. The Cast Members will then take your wheelchair and you are ready to enjoy the attraction.

Once you have thanked the Phoenicians and checked out your future, a Cast Member will bring your wheelchair back over to the ride vehicle for you to exit.

This is so helpful thank you. My father is in a wheelchair and can walk a little and we are bringing him in November. Does the ride stop so that he can get on and off? We are so excited to bring my dad to Disney as he wants to see it one more time before his time is up. I am very nervous about getting him on and off the rides – I know it will be a limited experience but my sisters and I are going to do our best.

Melissa, this is a really helpful blog! My husband and I are traveling to Disney in June with our family. Can you tell me if the Spaceship Earth ADA ride vehicle is the same elevation as the platform? I couldn’t tell from your picture.

Hi Lorrie! The ADA ride vehicle has a small step up but the seat itself is the same height as most wheelchairs. I hope that helps.

I’m glad that you did this blog. I travel to Disney often but never knew about these areas in the attractions where I can transfer to the ride from my chair and how it’s done. Thank you from Melinda in NY.
