Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room

The Tiki Room is a classic Disney attraction that is one of our must do’s and should be on your list too! Today we’re going to cover the wheelchair accessibility of the show at both Walt Disney World and the original at Disneyland. Find out what to expect in the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki tiki room!

Who Should Ride: Great for all ages

The Tiki Room at Disneyland is probably my favorite of the two. There is just something about being at the original. And until recently the Disneyland version was the only one that allowed Dole Whips inside. So that plus Maynard (an awesome Cast Member) makes our memories there pretty special.

The preshow is outside of the attraction and serves as the queue/waiting area. A few minutes before you enter the Tikis in the garden will come to life. It’s a great place to take a break since there are a few benches around. You can also get your Dole Whip from inside this area which is a nice bonus.

Another great thing about the Disneyland version is that if you are a wheelchair user you get an additional attraction! Kidding, but every time I get on the lift that takes you up to the attraction that’s what I’m told. 🙂 We’ve always operated the lift on our own and Andrew has always been able to come with me.

Make sure the door closes completely behind you. It won’t move if the door isn’t shut properly. Then you just press and hold the button that either takes you to the second level for the show or the button for level one to get back down.

Inside you just pull up next to a bench and you are all set. There isn’t a bad seat but I prefer to sit towards the back.

At Walt Disney World, you go up a ramp where a Cast Member is waiting at the entrance. They will let you through the rope and instruct you to go to the waiting area in the very front. This gives you a great view of the preshow. If you are the first one there don’t go all the way to the end. Stop where you can see the area in the middle of the garden.

Once the preshow is over, a Cast Member will take wheelchair users and their parties in first. Next to several of the benches are areas for wheelchairs to sit. They have a nice netting behind them that keeps people from getting too close (it happens) and makes them easy to find.

Once the show is over you’ll head out the doors and exit via a ramp. You come out next to Aloha Isle so you can grab a Dole Whip or easily head out into Adventureland or Frontierland.

Both versions of the Enchanted Tiki Room are a lot of fun. The Walt Disney World version wins as far as accessibility since you can head right in. If you have any questions or if you want to share your experience just leave a comment below!
